I subscribe to a number of blogs, newsletters and magazines, and I came across this little gem from HRM Asia.

They interview Dave Ulrich on how HR can best take advantage of the economic recovery phase, in both Asia and the West. This was particularly cool as Dave was on the panel for the AHRI Awards this year.

It’s a great little video to watch as Dave talks about learning from the crisis (culture, communication and from our customers) and also looking forward.

Interestingly he predicts that one of the issues we won’t struggle with is the ‘war for talent’, saying that in most places there will be a ‘jobless recovery’; where the economy will go up without the creation of new jobs. Because of this, he says that we’ll need to we have to have a “marshal plan for talent, we have to build the talent we have.”

Something to focus on for next year. Good. I was sick of hearing about the “war for talent“anyway. It’s lost its buzz
